John A. Melillo Obituary
WALLINGFORD - John Anthony Melillo, 86, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Meriden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of 52 years of the late Theresa "Terry" Dunham Melillo.

Born in New Haven, June 28, 1927, a son of the late Michael Melillo Sr., and the late Elizabeth DeNigris Melillo, he was a lifelong Wallingford resident. He had been employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Co., in East Hartford for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pinta Council 5 of Wallingford, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Libero Pensiero Society. He and his beloved wife Terry traveled extensively in the U.S. and their favorite places were in Hawaii and Alaska. John loved his family and his grandchildren were lights of his life keeping him young. He loved to read, especially Louis Lamour westerns, and was an avid sports fan of the N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Yankees. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.

John is survived by his daughter, Anita M. Zandri, of Wallingford; his son, John P. Melillo and his wife, Alicia, of Middletown; his grandchildren, Danielle Zandri, Anthony Melillo and Nicholas Melillo; his sister, Marian DeRoy and her companion, Mike Hazard, of Meriden; and his brother, Michael Melillo Jr., and his wife, Janet, of Wallingford, his special goddaughter, Roxanne Melillo Sievert; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Marie E. Melillo.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, March 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the , 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045 .
