SOUTHINGTON - June (Burkhardt) Foley, 92, a lifelong resident of Southington, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Roswell, Ga., where she most recently resided with her daughter, Colleen. June was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John T. Foley, the love of her life, in 2011.

Born in Southington on June 20, 1921, June lost her father Otto Burkhardt to pneumonia when she was nine months old. At the age of 12, her mother, Louise (McKenna) Burkhardt married Warren "Doc" Williams, who became a beloved step-father to June through her teenage years, before his untimely death in her early twenties. June remained on Oakland Road for 80 years, raising her family, with the love and help of her mother, who passed in 1964. A graduate of Lewis High School class of 1939, June worked as a telephone operator for Allied Control before her marriage. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church, and as a young mother, active in St. Thomas Mothers' Circle. She volunteered at Bradley Memorial Hospital, sometimes taking her children with her. Most of her time was spent loving and caring for her family, although she was known to be a keen and challenging player of bridge and setback and loved a good game.

June is survived by her brother-in-law, George Reeve, of Southington; and daughters, Michele Taylor and husband, Tom, of Guilford, Colleen Corley and Rebecca Blanchette, both of Roswell, Ga., Johanna Foley, of Manchester; grandchildren, Vanessa Jawhari, Matthew Taylor , Ryan Taylor, Wesley Blanchette, Taylor Macgregor-Scott, and Jessica Winters; and great-grandchildren, Sophie and Marin Taylor. June was expecting another great-grandchild in October with her granddaughter, Vanessa.

A memorial service in honor of June will be Saturday, Sept. 21, at 12 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Auxiliary of the Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial, 81 Oakland Road, Southington, CT 06489 or the Southington Police Benevolent Association, 69 Lazy Lane, Southington, CT, 06489.
