WALLINGFORD - Lena Abate Barulli, 89, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Twin Maples Health Care, Durham, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late George Barulli.

Lena was born in Woodbridge on April 24, 1923, daughter of the late Luigi and Rose Cammarota Abate, and had worked for Sears for many years until her retirement. Lena was known as a fabulous cook and baker, especially for her cookies and homemade pasta.
She was the mother of Maria (Michael) Kakalow, Rosemary (Larry) Brancato, all of Wallingford, Joseph (Martha) Barulli of East Haven, and George (Olga) Barulli Jr., of Holiday, Fla.; sister of Julia LaBanca, of North Haven and the late Mary Colavolpe, Elizabeth Perrotti, Rose, Joseph, Louis (Junie), and Anthony Abate; grandmother of Gus, Michael, and Christopher Kakalow, Robyn Ozovek, Lauren Brancato, Nicholas, Michael, and Melissa Barulli, and Jennifer Dalena; also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the
