WALLINGFORD - Raymond Dewire Neelon, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor P. Duggan Neelon.

He was born in Boston, Mass., a son of the late Raymond V. and Esther Dewire Neelon, and was a Word War II Veteran having served on submarines during World War II. He graduated from Tufts University and made his living in the electrical supplies industry as the owner of Ray Neelon Company. He had been a longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club and a lifetime member of the Wallingford Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Lawrence Lewis, of Madison, and Mary and Walter Popiak, of Thompson; his two sons, Raymond V. and Irene Neelon, of North Carolina, and Michael A. and Kathleen Neelon, of Wallingford; and his grandchildren, Ray Neelon, Kelly Neelon, Matthew Lewis, Chelsea Neelon, Taylor Neelon, Michael Neelon, Meg Popiak, Luke Popiak and Ally Popiak.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 4 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 9 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
