WALLINGFORD - Richard N. Lajoie, 82, of Wallingford, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at the Masonic Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Madeleine (Malo) Lajoie.

He was born in Lewiston, Maine, Aug. 20, 1930, son of the late Antoine and Jeanne Gauvin Lajoie. Until his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Mutrie Trucking and then Krevit Trucking Company. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford and was a member of Compass Lodge 9 AF and AM in Wallingford and the Major Raoul Lufbery V.F.W. Post 591 in Wallingford.
He is survived by two sons, David A. Lajoie, of Manchester and Daniel A. Lajoie and his wife, Holly, of Wallingford; and two granddaughters, Danielle and Dempsey, both of Wallingford. He also leaves his special, longtime friend, Ella Distasio, of Wallingford whom the family thanks deeply for her loving care of Richard.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Church in Wallingford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
