WALLINGFORD - Rick L. Garrison, 53, of Wallingford, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Robin L. Tripp Garrison.

He was born in Wallingford, June 10, 1959, a son of Joan M. Turi Garrison, of Wallingford and the late Levi "Jack" Garrison. He was a 1978 graduate of Mark T. Sheehan High School and captain of the hockey team. He was employed for the past 26 years with the Wallingford Fire Department and coached hockey for many years. Rick was a member of the Wallingford Rod and Gun Club and a hunting enthusiast, with his faithful English Setter "Murphy".
He is survived by his three children, Jeremy Garrison, Teddy P. Standish IV, and Stephanie L. Garrison, all of Wallingford; three grandchildren, Camren, Marisa and Austen; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald J. Garrison and his wife, Patricia, of Hampton, N.H.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his firefighter family. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Evelyn and Melvin Tripp.
His family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Oncology department at MidState Medical Center and Connecticut Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 4 until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
