FLORENCE, S.C. - Robert Edmund Gingras, 90, died peacefully, Thursday Dec. 5, 2013 at his home in Florence, S.C.

Mr. Gingras was born in Wallingford, March 23, 1923, a son of the late Edmund O. and Emma Riotte Gingras.
He had been employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 25 years and was a veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Linenberger Gingras, and their four children: Mark Gingras (Christine), of Wallingford; Susan Vitali (Robert), of Florence, S.C.; Paul Gingras (Laura), of Wallingford; and Gregory Gingras of Wolcott. Robert also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Nicholas Vitali, Jason Vitali (Robin), Margaux Faison (Clarence), Christina Rachal (Ross), Brynn Gingras, Scott Gingras, Eric Gingras, Sophia Vitali, Natalee-Anne Vitali, and Sydney Rachal. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Wigforss.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 4. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated directly at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony St., Wallingford, Thursday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
