Sarah (Frances) "Iggy" Cosgrove Nugent, 95, passed away Sept. 16, 2012, at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of Robert Frederick Nugent of 57 years and was a resident of North Haven since 1955.
Born in Norwich, on Sept. 16, 1917, daughter of the late James F. and Sarah McMahon Cosgrove. Active member of St. Barnabas Church, Women's Club, Altar Care, Social Action; and CCD Teacher for 15 years; volunteer at Fair Haven Soup Kitchen 10 years and American Red Cross 20 years. She was employed in IBM Department of the former New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroads.
She was the mother of Steven J. (Adrienne) Nugent of North Haven, Daniel R. (Marilyn) Nugent of Delmar, N.Y., Peter F. (Elizabeth) Nugent of Salem, Mass; also survived by five grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters, Marie Cosrove, Agnes Zesner, Marjorie Hengst, Anne Haynes; a brother, James Cosgrove; and her first husband, Staff Sergeant John J. Holland, killed in the Battle of the Bulge.
Services were held with a Mass of Christian burial on Sept. 19, 2012 at St. Barnabas Church. Interment was private in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
