MERIDEN - Shirley Nosal Houlahan, 84, formerly of Santee, Calif., beloved wife of Thomas D. Houlahan, died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Westfield Care & Rehab., after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew R. Nosal.
Born in Meriden on Dec. 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Velita (Carr) Cook. She had resided in Meriden most of her life and had graduated Meriden High School.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori N. Canney of Meriden, and Dawn N. Gowing and her husband, Stanley, of Wolcott; one son, Gary T. Nosal and his wife, Geraldine, of Meriden, Paul and Thomas Houlahan, Jr., of Santee, Calif.; four grandchildren, Eric Nosal, Jason and Christopher Canney, and Matthew Gowing; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marilyn Alexander, of Meriden and Doris Cote, of California, and former son-in-law, Frank Canney Jr. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
