WALLINGFORD - Stephen A. Giordano, Sr., 83 of 38 Cardinal Drive, Wallingford died suddenly on Thursday, July 12, at Midstate Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of fifty nine years to Dolores Cosenza Giordano.

Mr. Giordano was born in New Haven on Dec. 26, 1928, a son of the late Frank and Louise Amodio Giordano, and had resided in Wallingford for the past fifty six years. He was a manufacturing supervisor at the former Marlin Firearms Co. of North Haven for more than twenty years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Giordano was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran (1947 to 1949), Submarine Fleet and served on the U.S.S. Requin. He was a member of the AMVETS, the D.A.V., and the Knights of Columbus, Wallingford.

Mr. Giordano is also survived by a daughter, Patricia (Kirk) Horstman, of North Wales, Pa.; a son, Stephen A. Giordano, Jr., of Simi Valley, Calif.; a sister, Toni (Andy) Cafiero, of West Haven; two brothers, Joseph Giordano, of East Haven, and Frank "Bucky" (Terry) Giordano, of Branford; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a sister, Millie Conte; and a brother, James Giordano, Sr.

Mr. Giordano's funeral procession will leave Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven for a Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Mr. Giordano's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Mr. Giordano's name may be sent to the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
