WALLINGFORD- Richard Loring "Ryk" Wilkinson Jr., 67, of Wallingford, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven.

Born in Providence, R.I., June 11, 1947, son of Marguerite Ward Wilkinson of Berlin, and the late Richard L. Wilkinson Sr., he had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and had attended the Paier School of Art following his enlistment. He was employed as a Metal Fabricator for McDonald Industrial Services of Cromwell and also was a talented artist. He was a creative metal sculptor who fabricated his artwork from various metals that he found. He was a gifted guitar player and a fun loving guy who had an exceptional sense of humor.
Ryk is survived by his son, Richard L. Wilkinson III, of Terryville; and his sister, Beverly J. Winnicki and her husband, Chester, of Berlin; and his niece and nephew, Sarah and Chester.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday, Feb. 12, , from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown will be at the convenience of the family.
