MERIDEN - Carlton Edward Kuta, 69, husband of the late Alice Mae Kuta passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the West Haven V.A. Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on May 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward and Francis Kuta. Mr. Kuta was a lifetime resident of Meriden and graduated from Maloney High School and the University of Hartford. Carlton was self-employed as a general building contractor for over 35 years. He was a staff sargent with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era from 1966 to 1969. Carlton was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He was a lifetime member and past State Commander of the CT DAV and served as chairman for the Meriden Zoning Board. He was an avid fan of the UConn basketball, especially the women's team, which he traveled to see with his wife. He loved spending time with his family.

Carlton is survived by two sons, Timothy Fredrick Kuta and Brian Carlton Kuta and his wife, Elizabeth Marie; three grandchildren, Mason Andrew, Brayden Bobby and Nicholas Brian Kuta; and a brother-in-law, Fredrick Kopp. He is also survived by two nieces, Kelly Kopp Gayles and Kaci Kopp.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be private.
