SOUTHINGTON - Robert A. Mitchell, 72, of Southington, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at The Pines, of Bristol.

Robert was born on Nov. 27, 1941, in Meriden the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Burdick) Mitchell. He was a U.S. Army veteran who recently retired from Stanley Works after 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Berger) Mitchell, of Southington; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Christy Mitchell, of Bristol; his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Blancato and Ray Alvarado, of Bristol; his grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Mitchell, Charmayne Hernandez and Daniel and Brian Blancato; his great-grandson, Lamare Brooks; and his sister-in-law, Roberta Cullinan and brother-in-law, Roy Cullinan. Bob was a member and strong supporter of the American Legion Post 72 in Southington and he leaves behind many treasured friends. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time in Errol, N.H., casting a line in his favorite river.
Calling hours will be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol on Monday April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a funeral service with military honors at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert's memory may be made to: American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, P.
