MERIDEN - Johanna Grenier, born on Dec. 19, 1920, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

Born in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Rose Ferro. She had resided in Meriden for most of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Johanna was a very special mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a single parent who was hardworking and generous. The way she lived her life left a legacy for her family to carry on. She will be remembered by all who loved her.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Grenier and the late Walt Martancik, of Rockfall, Richard and Veronica Grenier, of Meriden, Joan Kafka and Jim St. Amand, of Wallingford; grandchildren, Tina and Eric Finnelli, of Rockfall, Tara and Mike Ruggerio, of Columbus, N. J., Elizabeth Grenier and Erik Merliss, of Wallingford and Rachel Grenier and Mike Theriault, of Meriden; great-grandchildren, Frankie and Ayden Finelli, Tommy and Sophia Spinner and Erik Merliss. She was predeceased by four sisters, Agnes Thompson, Angie Ross, Josie Barber and Mary Glorioso; and two brothers, Dominic Ferro and Phillip Ferro.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 10:15 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 11 a.m. at St. Colman Church in Middlefield for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Middlefield Cemetery.
