WALLINGFORD - Carlos E. Rios, 96, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Gladys Serrano Rios, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 19, 2014.

He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, March 14, 1918, a son of the late Jose A. Rios and America Monsanet Montalvo, and was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He had been employed by American Cyanamid, after his retirement he worked as a crossing guard for the board of education. Carlos was a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ileana Sanborn-Foley and Carlos Rios and his wife, Robin; his grandchildren, Anthony Sanborn, Jay Foley, Joseph Rios and Stacey Rios; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all of his siblings.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, June 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown.
