SOUTHINGTON - Shirley K. Jewett Houghtaling, 68, of Waterbury and formerly of Southington, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass. on Sunday, June 22, 2014, after complications from a long illness.

Shirley was born in New Britain on July 28, 1945, to the late Walter and Florence (Johnson) Tabor.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Houghtaling, of Waterbury; her daughter, Lisa Jewett, of Vermont, her daughter, Shelly Jewett LaChance and her husband, Jay, of Terryville; her son, Wayne Jewett and his wife, Gina, of Southington; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Ashlee Jewett; Michael and Jennifer Jewett; Tyler and Kayla LaChance and Kiera Parshley; and her great-granddaughter, Aviera Godair. She also leaves behind three brothers, Robert "Ted" Tabor, of Plainville; Lawrence Tabor, of Tennessee and Thomas Tabor, of New Hartford; and her sister, Patricia DiMora, of East Hartford. She was predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Jewett; and her sister, Geraldine Carver.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
