MERIDEN - Helen (Patterson) Marcantonio, 87, of Meriden, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Westfield Care and Rehab in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Marcantonio, with whom she enjoyed 60 special years.
The Guest Book is expired.
She is survived by her loving family: a son, Vito (Marc) Marcantonio and his wife, Edithann, of Meriden; daughters, Cathy Kosienski, of Meriden, Gail Ward, of Tampa, Fla., and Kim Skonieczny and her husband, Stephen, of Meriden. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Kelly Kosienski, of Dorchester, Mass., Corey and Tonia Kosienski, of Southington, Joy and Kyle Cooney, of Southington, Troy Kosienski, of Waterbury, Blake and Abby Marcantonio, of Wallingford, Ricky Ward and Krystle Ward, both of Tampa, Fla. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brooke Cooney, Anthony, Joshua and Corey (CJ) Kosienski, Kade and Ava Marcantonio, Ricky Ward and Gavin Randles. Helen is the daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Spencer) Patterson. She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Dora Patterson; as well as her brothers, Daniel, John and Walter Patterson.
She was born in Middletown, but lived in Meriden nearly all of her adult life. Helen loved to read. For years she frequented the Meriden Public Library, where she would borrow 12 or more books at a time. She owned every Danielle Steele novel published to date. She also enjoyed card games and was a wonderful cook. Helen loved to sing and enjoyed playing the piano by ear. Surprisingly, Helen was also quite a baseball player in her younger years. Helen's family meant the world to her and she talked about them enthusiastically. All of her grandchildren enjoyed many summer days in Nana and Papa's pool. It gave her happiness in her final days to have her family surrounding her. She will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Friday, July 11, at 5 p.m. Burial will be private. For online condolences, please visit www.jferryfh.com.
