SOUTHINGTON - Sylvia (Pizzo) Figluizzi, 88, of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife and best friend of Joseph Figluizzi for 69 years.

Born April 29, 1926, in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Madelena (Bruno) Pizzo.

Sylvia was an LPN, retiring from Waterbury Hospital. She and Joe spent their winters in Sarasota, Fla., where they made many friends from around the U.S. She was also a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church in Plantsville. Her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Sylvia loved to cook, bake, cross-stitch, and knit. All of her children and grandchildren each have their own special quilt.

In addition to her husband, she was the loving mother of Joann Ford, and husband, Keith, of Mashpee, Mass.; Joseph Figluizzi, of Ellington; Camille Figluizzi, of Norwalk; and Donna Figluizzi, of Meriden; she was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren, Matthew Watson, of Starke, Fla.; Marcus Watson, and wife, Abigail, of Anchorage, Alaska; Sarah Ventura, and husband, Peter, of Waterbury; Biancha Figluizzi, of Meriden; Christian Parrillo, and wife, Cari, of Waterbury; JJ Figluizzi-Bingham and CC Figluizzi-Bingham, both of Norwalk; and Hannah Figluizzi-Bradley, of Meriden; two great-grandchildren, Sabina and Dawson; and a special little boy, Zachary; one brother, Lawrence Pizzo, and wife, Anne; and two sisters, Phyllis Urbinati and Jane DeLorenzo, all of Long Island; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Frederick Pizzo; and a sister, Gloria Gatto.
