VERO BEACH, Fla. - Ann Pellegrino, 101, of Vero Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 400A East Waverly Place in Vero Beach, Fla. with family and caregivers by her side.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1912, in New Haven, Conn., and lived in Vero Beach, Fla. for 31 years after coming from Meriden, in 1984. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and godmother. Ann lived her life caring for, loving, spending time and helping her family and friends. Her beautiful smile, gentle personality, generous and kind heart were an inspiration to everyone. Ann loved and was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren sports, academic and extracurricular activities. She was also a bigtime Boston Red Sox, UConn Husky men's and UConn Husky women's basketball fan. And, to say Ann tremendously enjoyed reading, cooking Italian meals for others, gardening in her yard, holiday decorating and playing cards with her friends, would be an understatement. She volunteered in several civic activities: the Kiwanis Club in Meriden and The Riverside Theatre and Waverly Place Homeowners Association of Vero Beach, Fla.; and, was a parish member of Holy Cross Church of Vero Beach, Fla., and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Meriden.
Survivors include her son, James Pellegrino and daughter-in-law, Veronica, both of Meriden; three grandchildren, Jeff and Jim Pellegrino, both of Meriden, and Linda Barmore, of Southington; eight great-grandchildren, Stephen, Alexandra and Samantha Barmore; Jeffrey, James, Juliann, Eric and Ryan Pellegrino; sisters, Dorothy Sebastian, of Meriden and Rose Kerr, of Wethersfield; and many nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Albert Pellegrino; her sister, Teresa; and nine brothers.
