MERIDEN - Patricia Gostyla Sawicki, 75, wife of Hank Sawicki of 53 years, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, after a courageous battle with brain cancer at the Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Joseph and Francis Gostyla Sr. Patricia attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School, Jefferson Middle School, and Meriden High School.
Patricia began working her teen years for Kogut Florist, where she met her devoted husband, Hank. They married in 1959. Together they started their carpet cleaning business Hank Sawicki and Sons Carpet Clean-ing, which they ran for 48 years. Patricia was a member of St. Stanislaus Pals Club, served on the board of directors of the YWCA, was a past member of the Meriden Soroptomist Club, and past president of the Meriden Rotary Club. She was also the treasurer for the DARE program run by the Meriden Police Department for many years.
Besides her husband, Hank, she is survived by her daughters, Deborah and her husband, Mark Cossette, Pamela and her husband, Rico Beaudoin; her sons, Henry Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Scott Thomas and his wife, Lora; her grandchildren, Josh, Ben, Jake, Jamilee, Brianna, and Aaron. She is also survived by a sister, Marlene Cutrole, and a brother, Peter Gostyla. Patricia is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Michael Petrucelli, and a brother, Joseph Jr.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and aides at the Coccomo Memorial Health Center for the care they provided Pat.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m.
