MERIDEN - Carmella M. Commesso Ranno, 88, beloved wife of the late Michael S. Ranno died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on Dec. 23, 1924, in Southington she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Felica (Parillo) Commesso. Carmella was a longtime resident of Meriden and parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and taking trips to the casinos. Carmella loved baking, especially for her family. The most important part of her life was spending time with her family whom she cherished dearly.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Ranno, Richard Ranno and his wife, Pamela, Laurence Ranno and her fifth son, James Patrick Killeen, all of Meriden; her daughter, Patricia Ranno Blouin, of Meriden; a daughter-in-law, Cherie Ranno, of Woodbridge; two sisters-in-law, Concetta Commesso, of Florida, Josephine Moore, of South Meriden; her brother-in-law, William Ranno and his wife, Janet, of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Ranno; three brothers, Vincent, Salvatore and Joseph Commesso; and a sister, Mary T. Vecchitto.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 9:15 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 22, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home.
