ROCKY HILL - John S. Stachowiak, 94, of Rocky Hill, formerly of New Britain passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence (Mikulski) Stachowiak.

John was born in New Britain, son of the late Lawrence and Marianna (Bienko) Stachowiak. John was a New Britain resident for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran; he served his country honorably during World War II. John was a science teacher whose career spanned 23 years, primarily at Washington Middle School in Meriden.

He is survived by his son, Lawrence Stachowiak and his wife, Jane, of Lynn, Mass.; his daughter, Christine Bartol and her husband, Franklin, of Rocky Hill; and his grandsons, Benjamin and his wife, Erica and Robert Bartol. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Stachowiak; and his sister, Helen Szpanski.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home. His burial will be private; he will be laid to rest next to his wife in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
