Machaiek, Cecelia T. (Jedrysik) - Kennebunk  
KENNEBUNK, ME - Cecelia T. Jedrysik Machaiek, 93, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016. She was born in Manchester, NH on December 24, 1922. Her parents, Anthony Jedrysik and Aniela Wozniacka were immigrants from Poland. She graduated from Central High School in Manchester and worked for New England Telephone Company until she married Joseph G. Machaiek in 1946 and moved to Greenfield, MA. For thirty-one years, she worked for the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Service, starting out as a secretary to the 4-H Department. She retired from the position as head administrative clerk in 1988. Mrs. Machaiek received a certificate of Merit from the Congress of the United States extolling her many years of service to the State of Massachusetts. While in Greenfield, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing bridge with friends. She sang with the local Sweet Adelines, and she was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish. Mrs. Machaiek moved to Kennebunk, ME in 2005 to be closer to her daughter and son. She always enjoyed her time with her family, friends and grandchildren and her four young great-grandchildren. Mrs. Machaiek leaves behind her daughter, Carolyn J. Morahan and her husband, Robert E. Morahan of Cape Neddick, ME, and her daughter-in-law, Alison Machaiek of Rockland, ME. Her son, David P. Machaiek of Owl's Head, ME predeceased her. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher R. Morahan and his wife, Corinne of Needham, MA, Susan V. Britton and her husband, Lee of Alexandria, VA, Kathryn E. Machaiek of Los Angeles, CA, Margaret E. Machaiek of Rockland, ME, and a sister, Stella Russell of Manchester, NH. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren: Matthew and Ella Britton, Landon and Kendall Morahan, as well as six nephews and two nieces. Calling hours will be held at 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 27, at the Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech St., Manchester, NH. Miller, Deborah M.  - TURNERS FALLS  
MONTAGUE - Deborah Mae Miller, 63, of 5C Park Villa Drive, in the Turners Falls section of the Town of Montague, MA, passed on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at home, following a period of declining health. A native of Montague, MA, she was born at the former Farren Memorial Hospital on September 27, 1952 to Ralph and Jean (Martin) Miller and was educated in local public schools. Deborah was employed by Aliber's Clothing Store in Greenfield, MA, later she owned and operated her own gift store for several years on Deerfield Street. She was an exceptional cook, who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at the holidays and throughout the years with her culinary skills. Deborah enjoyed watching cooking shows on the Food Network and collecting cook books. A ""foodie"" at heart, she enjoyed dining out as well. She loved animals, none more than her feline companion ""Princess."" Additionally, she loved to ""chat"" and keep in touch with family and friends over the telephone and enjoyed music. Survivors include her loving children: Michelina M. Siano and her husband Vincent, of Greenfield, MA, Talia L. Siano and her husband Christopher, of Bonita Springs, FL., Chad A. Anderson of Turners Falls, MA and Dawn-Marie Serretta of Northfield, MA. Additionally, she is remembered with great affection by her grandchildren: Meghan, Tyler, Avery, Vincent, Aiden and Angelina. Deborah leaves her siblings: Donald Miller and his wife Patricia, of Guilford, VT, Robert Miller and his wife Diane, of Hubbardston, MA and Tammy Aliseo and her husband Anthony, of Palenville, NY, as well as her Uncle, Butch Martin and his wife Maureen, of Greenfield, MA, along with several nieces, nephews, and several cousins to remember her with great affection. Deborah also leaves her friend and caregiver, Brenda. In keeping with Deborah's request for simplicity, she will be cremated. A celebration of her life and inurnment, will be observed at the Pentecost Cemetery, Northfield, MA at a future date and time to be announced. Visiting hours are omitted. Expressions of affection in the form of a contribution in her memory are suggested in lieu of flowers, to Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Plante, Ruth E. (Whitmore) - ORANGE  
ORANGE - Ruth E. (Whitmore) Plante, 85, of Clarke Avenue, died on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol. Born in Athol on February 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Clifton O. and Nancy R. (Carey) Whitmore and graduated from Orange High School. Ruth was married to Francis W. ""Pop"" Plante Sr. on April 17, 1949 and enjoyed over 57 years of marriage until his death on January 7, 2007. A homemaker most of her life, Ruth had worked at Erving Paper Mill for several years. Survivors include her sons, Francis Plante Jr. of Lafayette, CA and Randy Plante of Orange; daughters, Laura Daniels of Avon Park, FL and Diane Pond of Orange; grandchildren, Tracy Clarke, Kristy Juaire, Nicholas Plante, Kevin Plante, Kristin Plante, Serene Plante, Alexis Plante, Amber Plante and Morgan Plante; great grandchildren, Sebastian Pond, Amelia Clark, Skyler Juaire and Jacqulynn Juaire. Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by a son, James Plante, on October 5, 2005, as well as her siblings Kenneth Whitmore, Francis Whitmore, Dorothy Cirtwell, Mildred Whitaker, Elsie Plante, and Gladys Robideau. A calling hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange. A funeral service will be held on May 26, 2016 at 2 p.m., at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. The Rev. Dr. Megan Leary of the Orange Central Congregational Church will officiate. Roberts, Sandra J. "Sandi" (Kostecky) - TURNERS FALLS  
TURNERS FALLS - Sandra ""Sandi"" J. (Kostecky) Roberts, 68, of 52 Oakman Street died unexpectedly Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Greenfield on June 27, 1947, the daughter of Roger and Isabelle (Piasecki) Kostecky. She was a graduate of Turners Falls High School. Sandra continued her education at Greenfield Community College, obtaining an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering in 1986. She was a Civil Engineer for the Town of Greenfield for 27 years, retiring in 2013. Sandra enjoyed spending time with family and friends, studying the Bible and Bible literature, the ocean, arts and crafts projects, electronics, and amateur photography. Among her survivors, Sandra leaves three children, Dennis Roberts, Candy Wilkinson and her husband Kevin, and Toby Roberts, all of Turners Falls; a sister, Barbara Griswold of CA; three grandchildren, Tam Roberts, Aria Roberts, Daniel ""DJ"" Girard, Jr., and a grandson on the way, Faolan Wilkinson; and one nephew James Griswold of CA. Sandra was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Theodore ""Tad"" Kostecky. A memorial will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Greenfield Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses: All are welcome. Shoup, Rev. Ray - Douglas  
DOUGLAS - Rev. Ray Shoup, 83, of Douglas, Massachusetts died peacefully on May 22, 2016. He leaves, Jan Dodder Shoup, his wife of 60 years who was also his partner in Christian ministry; daughter Catherine and her husband Sean Kane of Wallingford, Connecticut; daughter Lynda Shoup and granddaughter Madeleine Ooka of Douglas, Massachusetts and son David Shoup of Loveland, Colorado. Ray was a United Church of Christ pastor in four states. He was a firm believer that "God is still speaking". The guiding principals of his work were love and compassion, moral imperative, humor and social justice. He established The Faith Fund to help people who were struggling and could not receive assistance through traditional sources, implemented the Stephen Ministry Program in his parish for over 10 years which gave support to individuals who needed a listening ear and wrote a weekly article for the local newspaper for 20 years. He was a member of the Village Congregational Church in Whitinsville, MA. Visiting hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on May 28, 2016 at the Village Congregational Church in Whitinsville, MA. A memorial service will begin at 11:00, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Little Angels Service Dogs, P.O. Box 219, Jamul, CA 91935. NORTHAMPTON - Anne Streciwilk, 91, of Graves Ave, died Monday May 23 at the Charlene Manor in Greenfield after a long struggle with Dementia and Alzheimers. Born in the Ukraine, October 25, 1924 she was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Parchomenko) Sinko. She worked as a machine operator, working at Manhan Potato Chip Company and for Amherst Printing for many years. Anne enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance and also was a past President. Her husband Michael predeceased her in 1996. She leaves her sons; Stanley and his wife Marilyn of Montague, and their children Rebecca Martin and her husband Edward of South Hadley, and Jason and his wife Angela of Medford, Ma; his son; Charles and his wife Margaret of Villages, FL. and their children, Ian of Holyoke and Lorianna Grant and her husband Robert of Suffield Ct, Eric and his wife Ursula of Perryville, Kentucky. Tetreault, Gerald W. - LAKE WORTH  
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Gerald W. Tetreault, 89, of West Palm Beach died Saturday 5/21/16 at the Avante at Lake Worth North Nursing Home in Lake Worth, FL. He was born in Colrain on May 14, 1927, the son of William and Celia (Perrault) Tetreault. He attended local schools in Colrain and was a graduate of Arms Academy in Shelburne, Class of 1945. In August of 1945, Gerald enlisted in the United States Army , serving most of his time in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1947, obtaining the rank of Private First Class. After his time in the military, Gerald spent some time with his parents in Colrain. He also spent some time traveling throughout the United States, which was a passion for him. He continued his education attending college in New Jersey and later moving to Concord and Boston, where he worked and lived for a period of time before moving to Florida in 1975. Gerald was an engineer for Raytheon for many years until his retirement. Among his survivors, Gerald leaves two sisters, Eleanor Galvin of Glastonbury, CT, and Nancy George of Turners Falls; two nieces, Gayla Booth and Linda Momaney; two nephews, Gary George and Jeffrey George; and several great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday 5/28 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Charles DiMascola officiating. Burial will follow at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Volpe, Lawrence "Larry" - Greenfield  
GREENFIELD - Lawrence Volpe, 87, of Warner Street died Monday 5/23/16 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. He was born in Greenfield on May 11, 1929, the son of John and Caroline (Cardoroppoli) Volpe. He attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1947. Larry was a Stationary Fireman 1st Class employed by the Strathmore and Kanzaki Paper Companies for a combined thirty one years before his retirement. He was an avid cribbage player, sports fan, and closely followed the High School sports careers of his nieces and nephews. As a longtime member of the Greenfield Elks, he was part of the "morning crew" that met daily for coffee, cards, and camaraderie. Among his survivors, Larry leaves two sisters, Anne Volpe and Florence Volpe; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his wife, Angelina (Salvadore) Volpe on March 1, 1986. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday 6/16 at 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield with Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in South Barre, MA. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the TRIAD Program, c/o the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, 160 Elm Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
