GREENFIELD - Barbara J. (Lyon) Collins, 62, of Plain Road, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.
Barbara was born on Nov. 22, 1950 in French Camp, California, the daughter of Charles and Madeleine (Bellue) Lyon.
On March 14, 1970, Barbara was married to Aaron Collins. Together they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to many states and crisscrossed the country on four separate trips. Their three children, and later their grandchildren, traveled with them on some of these trips. Barbara enjoyed camping, puzzles, crafting and an occasional trip to the casino.
Her pride and joy however were her grandchildren. She always cherished every moment she could share with them and looked forward to each visit.
Barbara was a member of the Franklin County Agricultural Society and served on its Board of Directors. She volunteered at the annual fair for many years and was co-chairperson for the fair museum.
Survivors, beside her husband of 43 years, include a son, Sean Collins and his wife Alyssa of Greenfield; daughter, Tonya Delia and her husband Steven of Concord, NH; daughter, Karie Keane and her husband Michael of Randolph, MA; five grandchildren, Casey and Emily Delia, Patrick Keane, Seamus and Malakai Collins; brother, Raymond Lyon of California; sister, Patricia Packer of Grants Pass, OR; sister, Therese Sablotny of Moccasin, CA, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Charles Jr., and sister, Charlene Lyon.
Visiting hours will be Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 87 Franklin St., followed by the funeral service beginning at 6. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations in Barbara's name be sent to the Franklin County Agricultural Society, P.O. Box 564, Greenfield, MA 01302.
