Cheryl A. (Hartwright) Marhefka(1946 - 2014)

Cheryl Ann (Hartwright) Marhefka passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield, Mass., after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Norwalk, Conn., on June 17, 1946 to the late Frederick and Helen (Veiner) Hartwight.
Cheryl leaves behind three children: a daughter, Lori A. Doyle of Greenfield, MA, and her husband Robert; a son, Glenn R. Marhefka of Westfield, MA; a daughter and best friend, Lynn F. Campbell of Easthampton, MA, and her husband Robert. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Amy Mason of Worcester, MA; Shannon Waterman of Greenfield MA; Gerald Cranston II of South Hadley, MA; Faith Wild of Easthampton, MA, and Ryan and Mandie of Greenfield, MA. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren; Nicholas, William, Noah, Ellie, Lillian and Samantha.
She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Joshua Bigelow Jr.
She leaves behind a sister, Cynthia Yarrows and her husband Paul of Easthampton, MA; her brother Frederick "Buddy" Hartwright and his wife Carol, of Surprise, AZ; her ex-husband and friend, Glenn C. Marhefka of Easthampton, MA; an aunt, Patricia Dunn and her husband James of Northampton, MA, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family and friends.
Cheryl spent her childhood in Northampton, MA. Since 1968, she resided in Easthampton, MA.
Cheryl had a great passion for learning and graduated from the RN program at Holyoke Community College on Nov. 9, 1974. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA, for 21 years as an RN, specializing in respiratory nursing until she was disabled by transverse myelitis in 1995.
Cheryl was an avid reader and enjoyed music, singing, watching mysteries, game shows and tennis on television; solving crossword puzzles and word games. Cheryl had a great love of animals and was survived by her beloved cat, Mitzi. Cheryl was especially close to her youngest granddaughter, Faith Wild. who brought much joy and laughter into her life. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Czeluzniak Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hadley, MA.
