HATFIELD - Chester ""Chet"" Leon Krusiewski, 71, of 182 West St., died peacefully on Wednesday evening, Feb. 5, 2014, at the Linda Manor Extended Care Nursing Facility in Northampton, MA, following a period of declining health.
A native of Montague, MA, he was born on April 17, 1942 to Chester A. and Bernice B. (Cichy) Krusiewski. He was educated in local public schools and was a graduate of Frontier Regional High School, South Deerfield, MA.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy
in 1960 and served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict as a Corpsman assigned to Chelsea Naval Hospital, Chelsea, MA, and was honorably discharged in 1963.
Chester owned for several years the former Rainbow Bend Restaurant located in Gill, MA. He later was the proprietor of ""The Taxi"" in Northampton, MA.
Chester enjoyed many activities which included boating, fishing and NASCAR. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching television, sports and spending time with his grandchildren.
He married the former Barbara Konsevich, who predeceased him in 1977.
He is lovingly remembered by his three sons and their families: Steven and Tamara Allen of West Dover, VT, and Michael and Keli, of Deerfield, MA, and David and Wendy, of Westfield, MA, as well as his three adoring grandchildren: Blake, Elaina and Taylor. Additionally, he leaves his devoted sisters: Barbara Krusiewski of Millers Falls, MA, and Louise Hoynoski and Robert of South Deerfield, MA.
At the family's request, a private graveside service will be observed from Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA. Military honors will be provided by a detachment of the USN in attendance.
