Deborah F. (Herzig) Willard, 60, of 1509 Route 2, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 11, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Greenfield, MA, on Dec. 3, 1952, the daughter of the late Frederick and Vivian (Cady) Herzig. She was educated in local schools.
She was married to Michael Willard on May 19, 1993.
Before becoming ill, she was employed by the Buckley Nursing Home in Greenfield, MA.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing puzzles and playing video games, especially Wii bowling.
She enjoyed watching birds from her living room window beside her husband Mike.
She is survived by her husband and children, Kathy Wood of Shelburne Falls, MA, Philip Wood and his partner Susan Burrows of Greenfield, MA, Laura Wood of Charlemont, MA, and Paul Wood of Athol, MA; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Siblings, Bruce Herzig of Heath, MA, James (Sandra) Herzig of Buckland, MA, Darlene (Richard) King of Charlemont, MA; one aunt, Faye Walker of Greenfield, MA; father-in-law, Robert A. Willard Sr.; brother-in-law, Robert A. (Sandra) Willard Jr. and sister-in-law, Amy (Billy) Warger, all of Maine.
She was predeceased by her son, Scott Wood, on Sept. 13, 2004, and mother-in-law, Arlene Willard on Sept. 29, 2012.
The family would like to thank Amanda Perry and Hospice for their loving care and support.

There will be a celebration of Debbie's life on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the home of her sister, Darlene, at 2045 Route 2, Charlemont, MA.
