ORANGE - Doris C. ""Dottie""(Lawson) McIntosh, 87, of 383 East River Street, King James Court, died on Friday evening, July 5, 2013 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
Born in Orange on April 27, 1926, she was a daughter of Ivar B. and Mabel (Peterson) Lawson and grew up in Orange.
On February 19, 1949, Dottie married James A. McIntosh and they enjoyed 57 years together raising their family until Jim's death on June 16, 2006.
Employed by the former B & F Manufacturing Company in Orange for ten years, Dottie retired in 1982. She previously had worked at the Minute Tapioca Company and the Slencil Company, both of Orange.
Dottie enthusiastically enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Orange, she had been a Cub Scout Den Mother, as well as a member of the Orange American Legion Post 172 Auxillary.
Besides spending time with family and friends, Dottie enjoyed reading, watching horse racing, vacationing at York Beach in Maine and going to the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.
Survivors include her children, Douglas S. McIntosh and his wife, Pat, James M. McIntosh and his wife, Jeanette, Kevin J. McIntosh and his wife, Heidi, all of Orange, and Kirk E. McIntosh of Hudson; grandchildren, Sharon Cole, Jessica McIntosh, Steven McIntosh, and Timothy McIntosh, all of Orange; great-granddaughter, Aliya Cole of Orange; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Griffith, Jeremiah Griffith, Nicole Lyman and Erin Soucie; stepgreat-grandchildren, Taylor Soucie, Leighton Soucie, Kayley Murphy, Riley Murphy, and Nathan Griffith; a sister Betty Chenausky of Rindge, NH; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents and husband, Dottie was predeceased by brothers, Winston Lawson, Wallace Lawson, Ivar Lawson Jr., Larry Lawson and William Lawson, and sisters, Helen LaCoste, Avis Hebert, Shirley Castle, Marjorie Cook, and Ramona Lawson.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening, July 11, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Funeral services will be held at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
