GREENFIELD - Edmund A. "Lefty" Jurewicz, 83, died Monday (3-11-13) at the Poet's Seat Health Care Center. He was born in Greenfield on July 20, 1929, the son of Anthony and Celia (Guida) Jurewicz. He attended local schools in Greenfield.
Lefty was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in the Korean War
Lefty was a custodian for the Greenfield Public School System for many years. Prior to that, he worked for Yankee Rowe and Petrin Toyota.
He enjoyed building model ships and gardening. Lefty was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan and especially loved to watch his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors.
Among his survivors, Lefty leaves a son, James A. Jurewicz; a daughter, Tami Patenaude and her husband Dana, three grandchildren, Kramer, Hadyn and Caelyn Patenaude, all of Greenfield; a sister, Jessie Silva of AZ, and his former wife, Jacqueline Jurewicz of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday (3-15-13) at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., Greenfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
