GREENFIELD - Glenna M. (Call) King, 80, of Greenfield, died at home on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Buckland, Mass., to Glenn P. Call, Sr. and Mable C. (Lavalette) Call. She was raised in the Brattleboro, VT, area, attending schools there including St. Michael's High School.
She was married to Reginald A. King on Feb. 10, 1951 and enjoyed 58 years of marriage with him until his passing in May of 2009.
Glenna was a talented seamstress, making clothing and costumes for her children, and skillfully creating upholstery and slipcovers for many years. She worked with her husband as the Office Manager for King's Appliance Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her daughters and grandchildren, as well as extended family. She delighted in reading and watching the birds at her feeder. She adored the company of all of her pets through the years, including her beloved Chihuahua, Chico, who survives her.
Her loving survivors include four daughters: Regina M. King of Turners Falls, Marilyn S. King-Jorgensen and her husband Harvey Jorgensen of Carolina, RI, Rebecca L. King of Leyden and Catherine R. King of Greenfield and her partner Steve Woodard. She also leaves her honorary daughters, Debra Gruszkowski of Bernardston and Linda Allen of Shelburne Falls. She is survived by grandchildren: Michelle King, John Richardson, Jr. and his wife Kim, Jacqueline Winstead, Rebecca Kandrotas and her husband Mark, Eleanor Richardson, Douglas Jorgensen, Rachel Jorgensen, Jesse Jorgensen, AnnaFaith Jorgensen and Martha King-Devine. She leaves great-grandchildren Dominique Beausoleil, Kaylee Richardson, Kelsey Richardson, Zachary Winstead, Ashley Winstead, Alexander Purington and Charles Bradshaw, III, as well as great-great-granddaughter, Sienna Franklin. She leaves two surviving siblings, Mary P. Call of Greenfield and Thomas J. Call of Bellows Falls, VT, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family, including her niece, Betty A. Wilder of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Elaine Call of Leyden, and Reggie's many caring siblings and their spouses.
In addition to her wonderful husband Reggie, Glenna was predeceased by her daughter, Bunny A. King in 1995, and her son, Timothy A. King in 1964. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Mildred M. Williams, Glenn P. Call, Jr., Lawrence G. Call, Sr., and Theresia M. Beswick.
Calling hours will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St., Greenfield on Monday, Feb. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, with David Neil officiating. Burial will be at Arms Cemetery, Shelburne Falls.
