Henry G. Dandeneau

ROWE - Henry G. Dandeneau, 88, of 100 Lesure Road, died peacefully Sunday, March 24, at his home in Rowe.
He was born in Lawrence, MA, July 24, 1924, the son of Henry P. and Rena (Wonsey) Dandeneau. Although born in Lawrence, he grew up in Shelburne Falls where his parents owned and operated Dandeneaus Furniture Store in Buckland. He was a graduate of Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific theatre during World War II. Dring the war he married his high school sweetheart, Marion E. Lively of Heath.
After his honorable discharge from the service, he went to work for New England Power Co. in Buckland and worked for them his entire career on the Deerfield River. He retired on Sept. 1, 1986. He enjoyed a happy and healthy retirement with his wife in Rowe and Crescent City, Fla.
Henry was an active sportsman enjoying hiking, hunting and fishing.
He was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors, besides his wife, include two sons Henry J. (Evelyn) Dandeneau of Rowe and Thomas F. (Gloria) Dandeneau of Westfield; three daughters, Cynthia A. (Stephen) Baldwin of Townsend, Kathleen R. (Barry) Burrows of Greenfield and Marie E. (Richard) Zomek of Huntington; one sister, Ruthann Truesdell of Bushnell, FL; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, James W., predeceased him.
Family was always at the center of his life.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelburne Falls. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Rowe, at a later date.
Calling hours will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls.
