GREENFIELD - Jacqueline (Gleason) Modugno Nichols, 75, of High Street, died Friday (11-30-12) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
Born on May 28, 1937 in Colrain, she was the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Pike) Gleason. She attended local schools and continued her education to become a registered nurse, working at the former Monson State Hospital in Palmer and Quaboag on the Common in West Brookfield.
Jackie lived in Monson and Brimfield while married to her first husband, Charles A. Modugno. She was married to Raymond Nichols in June of 1994, and spent several years in Titusville, FL, before moving back to this area several years ago.
She enjoyed Disney World, Bingo, cards, traveling and anything Native American. She found a pen pal, Brian Lawrence from Birmingham, England, in high school, continuing that relationship throughout her life.
Survivors include two sons and their wives: Steven and Gail Modugno of Brimfield and David and Michelle Modugno of Easthampton; daughter, Brenda Modugno and friend Scott Greene of Warren; granddaughter, Jessica Schmid and her husband John Kolb of Charlotte, NC, and great-grandchildren, Grace and Avery Kolb. She also leaves a brother and his wife: Ronald and Janice Gleason, and a sister, Dawn Terlikoski, all of Greenfield; her first husband, Charles Modugno, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her second husband, Raymond Nichols in 1997; her sister, Marjorie Miskolczi; brother and sister-in-law, Forrest and Mary Gleason, and brother-in-law, Henry Terlikoski.
Graveside services will be Saturday (12-8-12) at 11 a.m. at West Branch Cemetery, Colrain, with calling hours omitted.
