James Herald

GREENFIELD - James Herald (born: James Harold Miller), 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday (4-19-13) after a short battle with cancer.
James was born in Utica, NY, on Nov. 15, 1939. He was the adopted son of Harold and Marion Miller. He graduated from Ovid High School in New York and continued on to receive a BFA from Ithaca College and later an associate's in Recreation Management from GCC.
James enlisted in the Army after college and served two years in Germany as an MP and three years as a reservist in NY.
Following his time in the Army, he worked as a theatre manager and as a male model in New York City for several years before striking out in search of adventure, eventually settling in the Franklin County area.
He enjoyed gardening and architectural design. He was also actively involved in assisted home living and provided a loving home environment to his client until just months before his death.
James is survived by his two sons, Forrest and Micah, as well as his stepdaughter, Ivy.
Friends of the deceased are invited to attend an informal reception with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Mt. Toby Friends Meetinghouse, 194 Long Plain Road (Route 63), Leverett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Tapestry Health, your local animal shelter, or your local hospice organization.
