Joseph John Dabuliewicz(1925-2012)

GREENFIELD - Joseph John Dabuliewicz, 87, formerly of 51 Union St., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at The Arbors in Greenfield after a long illness.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1925 in Winchendon, the third son of immigrants John Dabuliewicz and Honorata (Cieslak) Dabuliewicz. His brothers Stanley and Walter, as well as his sisters, Helen Lepkowski and Mary Dabuliewicz, predeceased him. His sister, Adella Wierstak of Winchendon, has survived him.
Mr. Dabuliewicz was a World War II veteran, who served with distinction in the European Theatre as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army 14th Armored Division of the 19th Armored Infantry Battalion HQ Company, 29 June 1944 and was honorably discharged 24 June 1946. He received several medals while serving.
He retired from Conant Ball Furniture Makers in 1987 after a long career in manufacturing management.
He was a very curious and well-read man who loved history, focusing on World War II history in his later years. Being raised on a farm instilled in him a lifelong affection and respect for animals. Mr. Dabuliewicz was also an avid amateur photographer.
His wife, Dorothea (Haines) Dabuliewicz, passed away on May 30, 2000.
He is survived by his son, John Edward Dabuliewicz and daughter-in-law Susan (Benoit) Dabuliewicz of Warner, NH; his daughter, Christian Clifford Haines of Jaffrey, NH; three grandchildren, Joshua Clifford of Athol, Benjamin Dabuliewicz of Concord, NH, and Rachel Dabuliewicz of Hanson, and one great-grandson, Draven Clifford of Athol. Mr. Dabuliewicz is also survived by nieces and nephews including Carol Garvey and Paul Lepkowski, both of Baldwinville, Thomas Dabuliewicz and Shirley Chatigny, both of Winchendon, Dana Winchester of Rindge, NH, Scott Winchester of Buxton, ME, Susan Winchester of Visalia, CA, and Sandra Winchester of Fitzwilliam, NH.
A memorial service will be held in Greenfield in February.
