McKENNA, Wash. - Kathleen Elaine Handsaker, formerly of Turners Falls, MA, passed peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 9, 2012 at the Nisqually Valley Care Center in McKenna.
Born March 6, 1928, in Mankato, MN, she was married for 53 years to Walter "Eddie" Handsaker. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, gold prospecting and softball.
Kathy worked for many years in civil service for the Federal government and the State of California. After retirement, Kathy and Eddie owned a general store in Amboy, WA, and managed a home for handicapped women in Prescott, AZ.
Kathy ran several non-profit support groups for genetic conditions, including Meniere's disease and Crouzon syndrome.
She is survived by her sons, Bob Handsaker of Charlemont, MA, and Rick Handsaker of Eatonville, WA, and three grandchildren: Julie, Mike and Aleah.
