Lyman William "Bill" Griswold

Lyman William Griswold, "Bill", 95, passed away May 5, 2013 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Bill was born on June 18, 1917, son of the late Lyman William Griswold and Grace Clarke Kimball. He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1935 and Colgate University in 1941.
He was deployed to the Pacific theater as a naval aviator in 1942 and remained in the Navy until 1955.
Bill married Patricia Henry of Tahoe City, California in December, 1945. He married his second wife, Portia Hawley of Reno in September 1958.
Bill opened the One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners in Reno, Nevada (1955), the KOA Campground in Bernardston, Massachusttes (1970), and was on the faculty at Northfield-Mt Herman school (1976).
Bill was active in the Delta Epsilon Fraternity, Toastmaster's Club, a live long Democrat, Franklin County Bikeway Committee, Greenfield Conservation Commission, Bernardston's Veteran's club and the Bernardston Unitarian Church. He is survived by children Mary Tabor Griswold, Lyman William Griswold, David Clarke Griswold (Courtney), Susan Riggsby (Craig); Grandsons, Jason Griswold, Ian Griswold-Shute, Nathan Griswold, Christopher Riggsby, Matthew Griswold; great-grandsons, Austin Skylar Griswold and Vincent Alexander Riggsby.
A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date in Bernardston at the discretion of the family.
