DEERFIELD - Mary A. (Bompastore) Yarmac, 91, formerly of Conway Street in Greenfield, died Thursday (11-8-12) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ava and Rich Clark, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Greenfield on Aug. 3, 1921, the daughter of Nunzio and Emma (Tataro) Bompastore. She attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 1939.
Mary was the kitchen manager at her family's restaurant, Alberti's, in Greenfield for over 40 years before retiring in 1983. Prior to that, she was the manager of Nick & Al's.
She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and founding member of the St. Joseph Guild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond S. "Boney" Yarmac, who died Sept. 8, 2000.
She loved to play cards and cook. She often cooked and shared her recipes with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary enjoyed spending summers at her family's camp at Lake Wyola. Her home was always open to her extended family and friends.
Among her survivors, Mary leaves two sons, Raymond Yarmac and his wife Mary Beth of Lebanon, CT, Nicholas Yarmac and his wife Sandra of Wilbraham; a daughter, Ava Clark and her husband Rich of Deerfield; a brother, Gelio Bompastore of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Nick Yarmac, Erin McKevitt, Jean Mittler, Joseph Yarmac and Thomas Thompson, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several close family members, Italia Bompastore, Helen Yarmac, Alice Zachlowski, Joseph and Blanche Yarmac, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services, all in Greenfield, will be Monday (11-12) at 8:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church 133 Main St., with Msgr. Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Sunday (11-11) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
