Mary Ann (Gaffigan) Tatro, 93, formerly of Green Street, Buckland, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northampton.
Mary was born in Buckland on Dec. 8, 1919, the daughter of William P. and Minnie (Vincent) Gaffigan.
In her earlier years, she had been employed by factories in the area and for several years was a waitress at the Eagles Club in Buckland.
Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, Robert C. Tatro, on bus trips to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed dancing.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Tatro of Greenfield, Jo-Ann Ryan and her husband Richard of Shelburne Falls, Kathleen Hoffman and her husband John of Shelburne; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William ""Bill"" Gaffigan and his wife Millie; a sister, Kay Purdy, all of Shelburne Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert, and two sisters, Irene Burley and Margaret Novak.
The family wishes to thank Hospice nurses Jane, Nicole, and Dana, as well as the staff at Calvin Coolidge, especially Lori and Paul for their love and compassion they shared with Mary.
Services will be Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls. A visiting hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Arms Cemetery.
