HADLEY - Mary-Ellen (Larrabee) Love, 76, of 20 N. Maple St., formerly of Buckland, died Sunday, July 14, at Elaine Center at Hadley, where she had been a resident for 17 years.
She was born in Newton, Feb. 27, 1937, the daughter of Frank L. and Emma E. (Lambert) Larrabee. She was a graduate of Newton High School.
She was a proud homemaker, making a home for her children and her beloved husband, Charles Smith Love. He predeceased her on Aug. 13, 1992 after 30 years of marriage.
Mary-Ellen enjoyed sewing mother and daughter outfits, planning fun birthday parties and making fancy birthday cakes, as well as family camping trips. She also enjoyed ceramics with her daughter Nancy. While a resident at the nursing home, she enjoyed planned activities and served on the Residents Committee.
She loved cats, chocolate, lobster rolls and teddy bears.
She was a member of Trinity Church in Shelburne Falls, where in past years she did volunteer work for the church, and also a member of the Shelburne Falls Area Women's Club.
When her children were school-age, she volunteered at Shelburne/Buckland elementary school. She also had been a volunteer at Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy A. (Richard) Caswell of Gouldsboro, Maine, Suzanne R. Love (Tom Goldscheider) of Northampton, Amy H. Love (Robert Dean) of Buckland; one brother, Alan J. (Donna) Larrabee of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Switzer-Daley of Uxbridge, four grandchildren, Mahalia and Charles Dean, Debra Espinosa and Dawn Caswell; two step-grandchildren, Sebastian and Ian Coss; four great-great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Audrey, Peter III and Julia Espinosa; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Shelburne. Burial will be in Arms Cemetery, Shelburne Falls. Reception to follow at Fellowship Hall in Shelburne Center.
