Milton E. Rice

ASHFIELD - Milton E. Rice, 91, of Creamery Road, died Friday February 22, 2013 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield.
Milt was born in Plainfield on May 23, 1921 the son of Ernest A. and Bessie E. (Thatcher) Rice. He was a graduate of Sanderson Academy, class of 1939.
He was married to the former Constance M. Carter on June 17, 1944.
Milt was a hoisting engineer for C.W. Ward Trucking in Ashfield for several years. He also worked for the Town of Ashfield Highway Dept. prior to retiring from Lamson & Goonow Cutlery in 1983.
Milt had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Ashfield for many years.
He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Ashfield Golf Course, in earlier years Milt enjoyed square dancing, he was known for his chair caning and he also liked to read.
Survivors include his wife of over 68 years, a son, Paul C. Rice and his wife Beverly of Sun City, AZ, two daughters, Penelope ""Pennie"" Mollison and her husband Doug, of Ashfield, Pamela M. Wrisley, of Buckland, a brother, Wesley M. Rice of Buckland, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 27 at 2 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, Main St., Ashfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
