Patricia L. ""Patti"" Unaitis, 60, a native of Greenfield, MA, died Sept. 25, 2013 at the Kindred Home in So. Boston with her loving husband at her side. She passed away following a long battle with breast cancer
and Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA).
Born July 22, 1953 in Greenfield to Anthony and Lucille Unaitis, she graduated from GHS in 1971. She worked at several places after that: food preparations at GHS cafeteria, GCC, Northfield Mount Hermon, and her last place of employment was at Via Lago Catering in Lexington, MA, where she worked for many years till she got very ill with PPA.
In her youth, both grammar and high school and Girls Club, she was in many operettas. Played the role of Cinderella at age 11, and a few years later, the whole cast of that show, ""Cinderella's Slipper,"" reunited and Patti could still fit in the same gown she wore before.
A very talented person from the day she was born, could carry a tune before she was 2. Her whole life was mostly dedicated to music. An exceptional vocalist, she went on to pursue her talent for many years in Boston, from there to No. Hollywood, CA, for several years, then back to Boston. Did back up vocals for well-known bands and was lead vocalist for a variety of bands in both cities.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Turner of South Boston; mother and step-dad, Lucy and Ken Lincoln, sister; Susan Unaitis; two brothers, Jon and Richard Unaitis, all of Greenfield. Also an uncle, Bobby Unaitis, and an aunt, Edie Johnson of Norton, MA. She had many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and lots of cousins.
There will be no formal services. Burial will be private. Patti will be laid to rest at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls near her beloved older brother, Jim's grave, who predeceased her in 1995. She also lost her father, Tony Unaitis, in 2001.
A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Elks Club
on Federal Street.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Rays of Hope, in care of Vicki Sutton, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, MA 01301.
