GREENFIELD - Ramona (Bovat) Phillips, 97, of Greenfield died on Sunday (2-23-14) at Poet's Seat Health Care Center. Born on July 16, 1916 in Greenfield, she was the daughter of Eli and Gladys (Tift) Bovat. She was the widow of Herbert O. Phillips, who she was married to on Nov. 26, 1938.
Ramona was an inserter at the Greenfield Recorder during her working years.
She was a communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Church, a 50-year member of the Degree of Pocahontas, Heelahdee Council No. 85 of Greenfield and a member of the Women Of The Moose
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. It was a treat to go out to eat ""with the girls.""
The family would like to thank the staff at Poet's Seat for the many years of compassionate care that Ramona received.
Survivors include two sons: Herbert E. and his wife Nancy of Montague and Apache Junction, AZ, and Gary G. of Greenfield; seven grandchildren: Herbert, Steven, Daniel, Garrett, Adrienne, Benjamin and Ethan, and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Kenneth Bovat of Bernardston, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Jerry D. Phillips, and grandson, Ernest S. Phillips.
Funeral services for Ramona will be on Friday (2-28-14) at 11 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St., with the Rev. Fr. Timothy Campoli officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
