SEBASTIAN, FL – Ronald R. Pearce, age 67, of Sebastian, formerly of Montague, MA, passed away Sept. 7, 2012 in Florida after a lengthy illness. He beat all the odds for six years facing a disease that should have taken him in two years and was active in golf and other activities up until a month before he passed.
Ron was born in Boston, MA, June 3, 1945, to Albert E. Pearce Sr. and Arlene M. (Keach) Pearce. He attended schools in Turners Falls, graduating from Turners Falls High School in 1963. He was known there for his basketball and baseball talents.
He married his wife, Theresa Raymondo, in 1989.
Ron worked for UPS, retiring after 31 years, was an active member of the Montague Elks and Mohawk Ramblers before moving to Florida.
He enjoyed golf, playing cards, the Red Sox and the Patriots. He was an all-around sports fan. He could always make you laugh with an animated story or joke. After retiring, he and Theresa moved to Fort Meyers for a short while, then to Sebastian, making their home there. He made a lot of friends there on the golf course and he had quite a few retired UPS friends in his area in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of Sebastian; his daughter, Kristin Pearce of Erving, MA; his brother, Albert "Chuck" Pearce Jr. and his wife Sue of Richford, VT; his sister, Susan Johnson and her husband Robert of Northfield, MA; his nephew, Robert Johnson Jr. and his wife Paula and their children, Connor and Molly, of Northfield, MA. He also leaves family in the Boston area.
He was predeceased by his father, Albert E. Pearce Sr. in 1972, and his mother, Arlene M. Pearce in 2006.
There will be a memorial service at Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls, MA, on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at 11 a.m.
