EAST LONGMEADOW - Viola Beatrice (Albrecht) Bailey, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 14, 2014.
She was born on March 8, 1929 to the late George and Ruth (Dulude) Albrecht. Viola was a 1947 graduate of the High School of Commerce, Springfield. She was a longtime member of St. Michael's Church in East Longmeadow.
Viola was devoted to the love of her life, her husband, Albert Bailey III for 66 years and her five sons:
Mark and his wife Judy of East Longmeadow, MA, Thomas of Enfield, CT, Christopher and his wife Gail of Northfield, MA, and Michael and his wife Kim of Hampden, MA.
She was predeceased by her oldest son, Albert IV.
She leaves behind her 15 cherished grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren Albrecht and his wife Suzanne of Springfield; a sister, June Darnley of Belchertown; a brother-in-law Richard Bailey and his wife Faith of Dresden, ME; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Conrad, George and Edward Albrecht and their step-father Oscar Bouchard.
Viola's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at ICU Gastroenterology, and Urology Groups at Baystate also the Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Baystate for their kind and competent care.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 17, from 4-8 p.m.at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow.
Viola's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, from the funeral home at 8 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church, East Longmeadow at 9:30 a.m. Rites of Committal will
follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.
