SANDY LAKE, Penn. - George E. Sturgeon, 76, formerly of Colrain, Mass., died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, under the care of White Cliff Health and Rehab, Greenville, Penn.

George was born Aug 25, 1936, in Colrain, Mass., oldest son of the late George and late Gladyce B. (Howe) Sturgeon.
George attended the Colrain school through eighth grade and the former Arms Academy High School in Shelburne Falls, Mass.
After high school he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Penn., where he met and married his beloved late wife, Faye B. (Love) Sturgeon, who died July 20, 2007, shortly after he retired.
George was the brother of Barbara Ann and her husband (also George) McDonald of Greenfield, James E. Sturgeon of Colrain, and Joseph P. Sturgeon of Monroe.
He was the loving father of Paul and (Barbara) Sturgeon of Cranberry Township, Janine and (Ed) Pentland of Sandy Lake, and Kent Sturgeon of Transfer; and the proud grandfather of Jeremy J., Angela F., and Trevor E. Sturgeon all in Penn.
George started working at the Pittsburg steel mills. When he left there, George worked for many years for General Motors.
After his retirement, George loved living in Sandy Lake, where he could spend his days outdoors doing what he enjoyed most, hunting and fishing.
There was a memorial service at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, PA 15007.
