GREENFIELD - George R. Jonelunas , 85, died at the Atrium Assisted Living Facility in Agawam on Feb. 10, 2013.
A lifelong resident of Greenfield, George was born on April 2, 1927, to Anthony and Blanche Jonelunas.
He married the former Bernice R. Waite in 1963.
A graduate of Bowdoin College, Harvard University, Rennsselaer Polytechnical Institute and Amherst College, George taught at Stoneleigh Burnham School, Bowdoin College and at Greenfield High School in the Mathematics Department for 31 years. Upon his retirement from Greenfield High School, he worked for many years at Farrell Insurance Agency preparing tax returns.
George was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and hiking with his dogs.
His sole survivor is his loving wife, Bernice R. Jonelunas, of nearly 50 years.
The memorial service will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mathematics Department at Greenfield High School or the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society.
