Turners Falls - Kenneth ""Kenny"" J. Burke, 42, of Turners Falls Road died Wednesday 7/2/14 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born in Greenfield on December 13, 1971, the son of James Burke and Kathleen (Rockwell) Lorden.
Kenny attended local schools in Turners Falls and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1991. Kenny continued his education, taking classes at STICC and Greenfield Community College and also attending the Police Academy.
He was a lead architect for Travelers Insurance. Prior to that, Kenny worked for The Hartford for ten years. He was a former Turners Falls Police Officer for five years and worked as a Security Guard for Greenfield Community College while attending the Police Academy.
Kenny's pride and joy was his daughter Emily. He most enjoyed spending time with her and watching her sporting events. He was an extremely proud father. Kenny loved spending time with his family and telling stories with his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed watching superhero movies, his favorite being ""Spiderman."" Kenny enjoyed fishing and loved his Great Dane, Maddie.
Besides his loving daughter, Emily Burke of Turners Falls, Kenny leaves his father, James Burke and his wife Nelda, his mother, Kathleen Lorden and her husband Michael, all of Greenfield, two brothers, Michael ""Mikie"" Lorden of Somerville, MA, and Ken Hubbard, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Northfield, a sister, Julie Burke, also of Northfield, four nephews, Brian, Jonathan, Samuel and Kyle, a niece, Ashley and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 7/8 at 12 noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
