Sunderland, Mass. - Paul Korpita Sr., 93, of 51 South Main Street, Sunderland, died early Sunday morning, June 22,2014, in the New England Health Center in Sunderland.

He was born in Sunderland Nov. 4,1920, the son of John and Mary (Danilo) Korpita. He was educated in the Sunderland school and also attended Deerfield High School. He later married Regina K. Wisenski and they made their home in Sunderland. She pre-deceased him in 2008
Paul was employed as a chemist at the University of Mass. He was a selectman for the Town of Sunderland for 22 years. He was also a Sunderland police officer and constable. He was an examiner for the State Milk Control, a Little League coach in Sunderland and Head of the Democratic Committee in Sunderland. He retired after 40 years at the West Experiment Station at UMass. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling.
Paul leaves 2 sons, Paul Korpita Jr. of Deerfield and Gary Korpita and his wife Terree of Columbia, South Carolina. One daughter, Kathleen Kennedy and her husband Michael of Concord, Mass. A sister, Veronica of Arizona. Also seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25,2014, at 11:00AM in the Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Sugarloaf St. South Deerfield, with Deacon Theodore Tudryn officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Sunderland with a reception to follow. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be held Tuesday, June 24th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
