GREENFIELD - Rosalie Bolton of Greenfield died Jan. 19, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Rosalie was born Sept. 26, 1919 at the Farren Hospital in Montague, daughter of Arthur and Helen (Moreau) Beaubien. She graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1937, where she was class secretary for four years. She graduated from Massachusetts State College, Amherst, Mass. (now University of Massachusetts) in 1941, with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics.
Rosalie taught high school home economics for two years and then was home economist for the Franklin County Extension Service for four years, prior to her marriage. She was a volunteer at Farren Memorial Hospital, as well as the S.P.C.C. thrift shop. She was president of the Women's Association of the Pioneer Valley Symphony. She enjoyed writing short stories, some of which were published. She also read one of her stories on National Public Radio. Rosalie was especially fond of her writing group, which met weekly at the Senior Center in Turners Falls.
Rosalie was a loving wife to Dr. James Bolton for 51 years. Dr. Bolton died in 1998.
She leaves seven children, John Bolton of Greenfield, Jerry Bolton (Pierna) of Bernardston, Jeffrey Bolton of Bellows Falls, VT, Joanne Richardson (Gary) of Northampton, Jeanne Grubman (Dr. James) of Northfield, Jacqueline Dewire (Michael) of Duxbury, MA, and Janet O'Hara (Michael) of Leominster, MA; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
