IRON, Va. - Timothy Alan Billiel, 62, of Iron, died Saturday, July 13, 2013.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Krehl Strilnger will officiate. Burial will be in Forbes Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Virginia Honor Guard.

Timothy Billiel was born Jan. 22, 1951 in Greenfield, MA, to Fredrick and Joan (Tetreault) Billiel. He grew up in Greenfield and attended school in Shelburne Falls.
Timothy served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, stationed in San Diego, CA, where he learned his gun training as a Gunner's Mate. Tim achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class (E6) with the Navy's special operations forces (Navy Seals) and was deployed to Vietnam and Cuba.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Elsner Gibson on Feb. 20, 1981 in San Diego, CA.
Timothy was a member of Tri-care, Disability VA and Dream Machine Cars. His hobbies included cars, gun repair, computer and woodworking.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents.
Timothy is survived by his loving wife Shirley; sons, Timothy A. Billiel Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Matthew B. Billiel of Virginia, MN, and Jeffery D. Gibson of Duluth, MN; brothers: John, Daniel, Robert, Thomas and James; sisters: Linda Phillips and Jane Billiel; grandchildren: Marianne, Michael, Jessica Billiel and Matthew Gibson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
